To adapt embedded systems to the request of dynamic changeable areas of application the using of reconfiguration of functionality and/or interfaces at run-time is researched.

Robust Embedded Systems

The reliability of embedded systems is of paramount importance. Therefore at the professorship the basic approaches of system-robustness for hardware- and software components are developed. Important steps are automatic analysis and replication as well as run-time and storage monitoring.

Self-Organizing Systems

Strategies are needed to coordinate mobile embedded systems. If there is no central management they have to use methods of self-organization: Self-Diagnostics, Self-Test, Self-Healing and Self-Optimization.
